As an engineering intern for Oliver Racing Parts, I helped convert their legacy knowledge and data into tangible and documented CAD and drawings. They had no documentation of their product catalog (lost through the years), and had been running their shop for years off of machinist knowledge and CNC programs.
Connecting rod full assembly CAD, minus bushings, generated for entire Oliver part catalog

Cropped, redacted drawing example, generated for entire Oliver part catalog
Responsibilities:
• Create documentation for all connecting rods and assembly parts for the entire 30+ rod catalog
• Use CNC tool paths to generate .dxf data and use this as a basis for CAD contour sketches
• Create 2D drawings associated with every part
• Provide engineering guidance and feedback for Roush-conducted rod analysis research
• New research conducted on possible changes for design and manufacturing improvements
• Analysis paper finalized with ORP approval to help guide design decisions
• Design new mounting clamps for tombstone CNC part fixture
Key Takeaways:
• Working in small business with limited resources (~15 employees)
• In-depth usage of Solidworks 3D and 2D
• Insight to small-batch, precision CNC manufacturing techniques
